Is the data accurate?

Yes. We are as accurate as our suppliers. Wherever possible, we get the data directly from the original source. Uniquely, we actively track the datasets for updates every day, this means that our team can provide the most up to date data possible. Some datasets take longer to import; however, the one thing that is guaranteed, we are doing everything in our power to provide the most accurate and up to date data in the market.

How is distance measured?

We calculate the distance between a site and any overlapping feature. An example would be to calculate how far your site is from its closest green belt. We calculate distance ‘as-the-crow-flies’ from the closest border of the green belt to the closest border of the site being assessed. We use this methodology for all our distance calculations.

How is population measured?

Population is the aggregate sum of people in the site’s closest Built Up Area (BUA). The raw data is provided by the Office for National Statistics.

Is the data up to date?

Yes. We check the source every day to ensure that we know when our data is no longer up to date. The time that it takes to load data into our data lake can vary depending on the dataset, however we target to never be more than 2 weeks older than our supplier’s latest version.

Which sites can be assessed?

Our users can assess any site registered with Her Majesty’s Land Registry, which covers England and Wales. Our Over and Underground Power Supply dataset is very detailed and covers the area supplied by Western Power Distribution only.
